CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Yu Youhan, China’s famous contemporary abstract painting artist opened his solo exhibition, “Concrete & Abstract” at Long Museum (Chongqing pavilion); this marks the opening of Long Museum this year. This exhibition — Yu’s first in Chongqing — will be open at no charge until June 19.

Ranking among China’s most famous abstract artists, Yu Youhan is the representative founder for contemporary abstract art and pop style, as the British art historian Edward Lucie Smith said: “Yu Youhan is one of the artists who turned international style into his own art language, and for this reason, he will likely play an important roll in Chinese art history.” Back in 1993 and 1994, Yu Youhan was one of those who participated in annual exhibitions in both Venice and St Paul.

This exhibition shows different series of his works over 50 years. Some photographs and manuscripts show his representative works of scenery and abstracts in his early stage, pop style in early and later stage, through Yimeng Mountain scenery and abstract art in later stage. Audiences in Chongqing can take a close look at nearly one hundred pieces of Yu’s classical works and learn how his artistic creations progress through the years.
