CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- What is an "intelligent airport"? Recently, the intelligent identification security system in Chongqing Airport has passed the acceptance phase. Face recognition technology is being used at all security inspection channels, which is just the first step to create an “intelligent airport”. Next, higher-level intelligent security projects will be carried out successively at Chongqing Airport, and will be extended to stations, terminals, etc., thus to improve the safety level and efficiency of traffic inspection in Chongqing.

It takes only 2 seconds for face recognition when passing the security check. There will be no need to swipe the boarding pass at the boarding gate in the future.

At Terminal T2T3, all the security channels make use of the intelligent identification security system. By face recognition, when a passenger presents their ID card at the security checkpoint, the system can identify the similarity between the photo on ID card and the card holder in approximately two seconds. Manual verification needs about ten seconds.

The second-generation intelligent identification security system will be introduced later. By then, face recognition will replace all the manual verifications from the security channel to the boarding gate. Then, there is no need to manually check the boarding pass at the boarding gate. This is because when a passenger passes through the security gate, his identity information and photo are transferred to the boarding gate. He just needs to verify his identity by face checking when he boards. In this way, the security is improved and the problem of boarding the wrong plane are also prevented.
