CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Last week, an attempt of formation flying was achieved by six wingsuit extreme athletes from the Cloud-Covered Bridge in Longgang, Yunyang, Chongqing. The last extreme sport was attempted here two years ago. Again, Longgang, Yunyang has presented us a wonderful visual feat.

A miraculous 80 seconds

On April 9, 2016, Zhang Shupeng succeeded in a solo wingsuit flight from Longgang. This time, however, there was a team of pilots flying in formation, which was much more difficult and thrilling. Compared with last time, more people joined in the activity, and the duration of the pilots in the air had also increased. This spectacular event at the famous scenic area had great attraction for us!

At 14:50, a large helicopter took off with the six top athletes. From Tianhe Square of the Longgang Scenic Area, it climbed up to 2500m above the Cloud-Covered Bridge swiftly and stayed there in preparation. Soon the pilots jumped out of the helicopter from the cabin doors on both sides simultaneously. While they were descending fast, the team started to shape a formation, as the wingsuits quickly enlarged with the help of the lift provided by the air.

As seen from Cloud-Covered Bridge, shortly after the jump, a formation of “人” could be seen by tourists fifteen seconds later. At the same time, the team was a tiny dot from the view on the ground. The dot enlarged quickly as it got closer. The onlookers didn’t even have time to suppress their first joyous cries of amazement. At the moment the tourists were able to recognize the faces of the pilots, the wingsuit athletes had soared through near the bridge like rapidly diving falcons.
