CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- In 2016, the State Council's approved April 24 of each year as "China Space Day". On the occasion of the third “China Space Day”, the “2018 National Science and Technology Museum Joint Action - China Space Day” event, in which 17 local venues such as the Chongqing Science and Technology Museum was involved, was officially launched. The Chongqing branch venue will be held at the Chongqing Science and Technology Museum and will last to April 27th. Citizens can come to visit and participate in various activities for free.

The 17 stadiums participating in the event can have a live video connection with the astronauts from all countries.

Children were attracted by wonderful explanations.

The theme of this year's "China Space Day" is "To build a new era in aerospace," which is divided into two major parts: core activities and distinctive activities at local science and technology museums. Among them, distinctive activities are centered around the theme of each local museum, combined with the actual implementation of itself. The Chongqing Science and Technology Museum has deeply explored the exhibition and teaching resources of the Aerospace Science and Technology Exhibition Hall, and organized a series of education activities called “Spying for Aerospace Aviation”. These activities include science tutoring, fun experiments, scientific productions, and funny science lessons.

Children in “space suits” had “astronaut experiences” and learned about their clothing, food, shelter and means of travel.

Putting on “space suits,” children looked very smart.

In the special activity of "Fulfilling Astronaut Dream" held at the Chongqing Science and Technology Museum, the children not only put on a “space suit,” and experienced what it was like to be an astronaut, but also learned some of the scientific knowledge of the astronauts regarding clothing, food, shelter and means of travel, through physical training, simulation practice, and other activities. It showed the space culture and promoted the aerospace spirit.

In the science tutoring activity focusing mainly on the "Aerospace Dream", the audience learned about exploration of the universe from ancient times to the present and the aerospace science and technology from exhibits and interactive games. Interesting experiments based on exciting and peculiar experimental phenomena, allowed adolescents intuitively “see” earth’s surface air and understand the composition of the air. Scientific productions use families as a team to make rocket models. Finally, they launch and test the performance of rocket models in a competition, allowing young people to master rockets’ structure and emission principles during their activities. Amusing science lessons, with the help of videos, group discussions, hands-on experiments, etc., to guide young people to explore the existence of electromagnetic waves and their applications.

The Chongqing branch venue activities held at the Science and Technology Museum will continue to April 27th. Citizens can come to visit and participate in various activities for free. (Translated by Gao Jiao, Fathom Language Limited)
