CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- At the recently launched “4·23 World Reading Day” and the 11th Chongqing Reading Month, the platform of Jiefangbei in the Chongqing Library is crowded with people. A series of cultural and creative products are available, including various porcelain plate ornaments and notebook folding fan sets of “Ancient Style of Chongqing Library”. The ancient paintings and etched materials have attracted people to stop and explore the library's “cultural treasures” at close range.

In order to maintain cultural knowledge and experience traditional culture, the library has set up an interactive practice of woodblock printing technique, which citizens can experience on the spot. The Chongqing Library has prepared models of the "Three-character Scripture", "Baisuijian" and "Plum". Visitors can place ink on the board with carved characters, cover it with paper and then print. Afterwards, they can send the print as a cultural gift to families and friends.

The VR experience of movable type printing also attracted many people to participate. Experiencers wearing VR equipment can enter a scene with a traditional printing workshop as a backdrop. They can see tools such as stoves, squeezing brushes and type heads used in the old movable-type printing process. Under the Virtual Reality guidance and using the software, visitors can participate in the process of movable-type printing, learn about its key production processes and experience its history.
