CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The Jinyun Drama Club of Chongqing University Art Group gave a public performance of their original drama A Letter from Hometown Chongqing in the theater of Sichuan International Studies University. This marked the start to the Sixth Chongqing Collegiate Drama Season. With the setting in the last century, vivid costumes and makeup enhanced a wonderful performance that caught the attention and won applause of the audience.

Drama performance.

Begun in 2005, the Chongqing Collegiate Drama Season has become the most famous and popular drama-related event among college students. This biennial event provides a large stage for college students to make creations and breakthroughs.

Twenty-four drama clubs from 14 colleges and universities including Chongqing University, Chongqing Normal University, Sichuan International Studies University, College of Mobile Telecommunications, Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications have made their applications and submitted a total of 41 works covering the modern drama, Sichuan opera, Peking opera and music drama. Over half of those works are original and through competitive rounds of selection by experts, seventeen works were admitted to the second-round performance.

During the nine day event, the shortlisted works will be performed at Chongqing University, Southwest University, Chongqing Normal University and Sichuan International Studies University. Meanwhile, excellent creative works, outstanding performance, best actor and advisor will be elected to encourage young people to be bold in creation and innovation.
