“South Zhang & North Pu” come to Chongqing, bringing a visual feast to Chongqing people

“South Zhang & North Pu” Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition.

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- There is a wonderful art exhibit for Chongqing people! As an exhibition related to the Ninth Month of Cultural Heritage, the Exhibition of “South Zhang & North Pu’s” Painting and Calligraphy Collections from the Jilin Provincial Museum will be held in Exhibition Hall D on the 4th floor of the Three Gorges Museum from May 18th to July 15th.

A total of 80 works by two Chinese master painters, Zhang Daqian and Pu Xinshe, created during the period of the Republic of China, will be shown. All exhibits, 40 works from each artist, are selected from the collections of the Jilin Provincial Museum and were created during the period of the Republic of China. It is noteworthy that the exhibits cover different subject categories, such as paintings of flowers, birds, landscapes and figures. Zhang Daqian and Pu Xinshe were two great scholars appreciating each other during the period of the Republic of China, and also very famous painters since modern times, playing important roles in the history of Chinese modern painting.

Yu Xinrong, first-class artist at Jilin Provincial Museum, said in an interview that he thought Chongqing people were as warm as Chongqing hot pot. Meanwhile, the two museums’ staff work together happily and finished the exhibition arrangement smoothly in just a couple of days, which was very amazing. Moreover, he also said he was really attracted to the stone sculptures and carvings of the Han Dynasty at the Three Gorges Museum. When it is proper, they will introduce the collections of the Three Gorges Museum to hold an exhibition at the Jilin Provincial Museum.
