CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On May 27th, the opening ceremony of “Blooming June – 2018 Art Tour of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute” was held at the Art Museum of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute.

Almost 10,000 works from 1,952 Sichuan Fine Arts Institute undergraduates were exhibited

It is reported that “Blooming June – Art Tour of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute” was first held in 2005. With a history of 13 years, it is an important art activity of the Institute to open works of its graduates to public for free.

This year, almost 10,000 works from 1,952 undergraduates in Grade 2018 were exhibited at the Huxi and Huangjueping Campus simultaneously.

At Huxi Campus, visitors may find several work categories including Chinese painting, calligraphy, oil painting, print, sculpture, environment design, fashion design, while at Huangjueping Campus, visitors may find 385 works from graduates of the School of Public Art.

Demonstrate the beauty of life with art works

Write the poems of Nalan Rongruo on antique light boxes; make artworks like amber with ceramics, resins and species of extinct insects… Students of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute demonstrated their thoughts towards environmental protection, science, technology and culture with art showing unusual but wonderful ideas that were enjoyed by many visitors.

The work called “Umbrellas of Ba Yu Culture” attracted much attention. The calligraphy works are written on oiled paper umbrellas produced by Yang Yujie.

“I’m a native of Luzhou City, Sichuan Province, and our Bi Liufu Oiled Paper Umbrella is a national intangible cultural heritage,” said Yang, who combined Ba Yu Culture, the theme of this graduation project, with a calligraphy major to show ancient poems about Ba and Yu with a unique format.

After buying umbrella stands and waterproof umbrella paper, Yang Yujie wrote poems of Su Shi, Du Fu, Chen Ziang, etc. about Ba and Yu on the umbrellas in four different fonts: clerical, semi-cursive, regular and cursive scripts. By integrating the charm of Chinese calligraphy with traditional intangible cultural heritage, the works have drawn great attention. (Translated by Sun Jiuyang, Fathom Language Limited)
