CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Come and join the fun in the 3D publicity city. The Administration of Sport of Chongqing reports that the Fourth International Stair-Climbing Competition of Chongqing sponsored by the China Sports Lottery will begin on June 9 at the World Financial Center (WFC) in Jiefangbei. Hobbyists are invited to take the challenge.

Stair-climbing is regard as the “vertical marathon”. As a relatively new way of fitness building, it has become increasingly popular among citizens in the fast-paced metropolitan lifestyle. It is reported that the previous three International Stair-Climbing Competitions were successful and the Jiefangbei CBD City Stair-Climbing Competition had been held for a consecutive ten times, enjoyed by many citizens and hobbyists. This year, the Committee introduced “2018 International Vertical Stair-Climbing Grand Prix – Chongqing WFC”, in hope that it attracts more stair climbing veterans in and outside China.

This stair climbing competition event has 4 categories: Groups, Individuals, Men’s and Woman’s Mixed and Family. The Group category must have five members, with at least one being of the opposite sex; for the Individual category, there are sub-categories for men and women; for Men’s and Women’s Mixed, each team is composed of one man and one woman; for the Family category, a team is made up of 2 or 3 people, a male parent, a female parent and a child, or a parent and a child. According to the rules, competitors should be older than 16 but younger than 60. Children in the Family category should be aged 6 to 12.

The competition is to begin at 9:00 am on June 9. The starting point is Jiefangbei, competitors are to cross the Walking Street and enter the WFC building, and finally ascend to the WFC Conference House Observation Deck. The finishing line for Group, Individual and Mixed categories is at the 73rd floor Observation Deck and for Family it is at the 26th floor.

Applications for the competition can be submitted via the website of the Chongqing Sports Association or its WeChat official account. It is now at the end of the application period and applications for all categories have surpassed that of last year. 1,000 people are to take part in the competition this year.
