CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Summer is the best time to watch fireflies. How long has it been since you saw fireflies? The Firefly Cultural and Creative Farm, located at the junction between Laijiacao and Qishuiwan of Fengwen Street, University Town, Shapingba District, is under construction. Thus fireflies will appear in the sky of Shapingba this summer!

The Firefly Cultural and Creative Farm, covering over 700 mu, is in the northwest of University Town. It is surrounded by mountains and has a beautiful landform, which is suitable for developing ecological agriculture education and cultivating insects.

Huang Jinsheng, the project sponsor of the Farm, says that fireflies only survive in an unpolluted environment. Creating a restoration base for fireflies not only reminds local people to consciously protect the environment, but also helps them become richer. It is a meaningful project of ecological economy.

Huang Jinsheng says that 32 species of butterflies will be cultivated so that citizens can enjoy butterflies in the day and fireflies at night. Dragonflies, scarabs, frogs, tree frogs, tadpoles, coccinella septempunctatas (also known as the “seven spotted lady beetle”) and other small animals will also be cultivated in the firefly valley providing a natural environment for them as well.

At present, six kinds of fireflies have been re-cultivated successfully and over ten thousands of fireflies can be enjoyed in the sky. In the future, a luminous view will be enjoyed at the farm all year round. (Translated by Chen Dandan, Fathom Language Limited)
