Events of Chongqing

Use live characters to tell that story

In the eyes of the main creative staff, the "Chongqing Bombing" was not just a matter of how many air raids and how many people were killed, but also many live stories: how many universities and research institutes have moved here in the danger of being killed, and academic research and educational activities have never stopped; how many people have finished drinking tea in the teahouse after the second air balloon was hoisted and winning a Mahjong match, only calmly entered the air-raid shelters; when the Chinese Air Force was defeated by Japan’s “Zero” fighters at the time, old planes took off and fought a fleet of enemies alone; wartime children's home adopted more than 100,000 war orphans...

In the film Unbreakable Spirit, the celebrity stars have shaped the characters in the tragic historical background in a vivid manner.

Sentiment for Chongqing

Thirty years of dream of filmmaking in Chongqing realized

It took the director eight years to make the film Unbreakable Spirit. During this period, the film experienced various unpredictable difficulties and setbacks. Director Xiao Feng said that what supported him in this process was his “sentiment for Chongqing” for more than 30 years.

“Thirty-eight years ago, the first film I participated in was Evening Rain in Chongqing. At that time, I wanted to make a film related to Chongqing.” In 2010, when he received an invitation to direct Unbreakable Spirit, Xiao Feng devoted almost all his attention to this film. He said that the deeper his understanding of Chongqing is, the more he was impressed by the optimism, open-mindedness and fortitude of the Chongqing people, the more he was determined to make a great film.
