Previous Jialing River Cableway

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The new address of the Jialing River Cableway has attracted the public attention since it was removed in 2013. There are many difficulties in the address plan for the cableway between Hualongqiao and Hongyan Village, so the authorities are considering a new address. A plan from Daijia Alley in Yuzhong District to Juxianyan Square in Jiangbei District, is considered the most feasible plan.

The new address is separated from the former one by less than 1km.

One side of the cableway is located in Daijia Alley in the Yuzhong District, next to The Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. The new address is separated from the former one by less than 1km. Its high location is not only good for construction of the cableway, but also provides a good viewing platform to enjoy the beauty of Hongya Cave.

An appropriate address of the other side in Jiangbei District will be identified between the Jiangbeizui Railway Station and Juxianyan Square.

Intelligent technology will be applied and there will be some stops in the middle.

The address in Jiangbei hasn’t been identified until now. The reason is that reciprocating construction ways with intelligent technology will be applied as the Jialing River Cable needs to be reconstructed so that stops will show in the midway. In addition, it is necessary to expect the arrival time of the next cableway exactly as the bus. Intelligent technology will shorten the waiting time to make the cableway more convenient.

According to the investigation, the cost of such an intelligent cableway will be lower than that of the railway while higher than the bus. On the contrary, passenger capacity is lower than that of the railway but much higher than the bus. It is suitable for Chongqing’s development. In terms of current standpoints, there will be a cableway stop near Juxianyan Square in Jiangbei District to create an efficient trip by designing the intelligent stops.

However, the construction time and nodes of the Jialing River Cableway haven’t been announced to the public.

Ciqikou or Beibei is the alternative plan.

Kong Delan, the director of Chongqing Passenger Cableway, said, “The public has always been asking to reconstruct the Jialing River Cableway since its shutoff and removal.” The passenger cableway, which stretches across the Jialing and Yangtze Rivers and connects Nanbin Road, Changbin Road, Jiabin Road and Beibin Road, plays an important part of transportation with the unique characteristics of Chongqing and now also becomes a landmark of tourism. The annual number of tourists on the Yangtze River Cableway has already been over four million.

Kong Delan says that the Yuzhong District hasn’t abandoned the plan for reconstructing the Jialing River Cableway. But there are fewer addresses for consideration because of the development of the two districts.
