Rail Transits of Chongqing are also the landscape of the city.

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On June 12, the 2018 Beijing International Urban Rail Traffic Summit was held in Beijing. Jia Shirui, deputy director of the China Association of Rail Transits, said at the forum that in terms of Rail Transit operating mileage, five Chinese inland cities have ranked among the top ten worldwide, and nine Chinese inland cities are among the top twenty. The total length of Chongqing Rail Transit in operation has been ranked 11th in the world.

The operating line of Chongqing Rail Transit may be extended by nearly 50 kilometers this year.

By the end of 2017, the total length of the Chongqing Rail Transit lines in operation reached 264 kilometers, including 165.6 kilometers of subways and 98.5 kilometers of monorails. There were 153 stations, including 13 interchange stations; the average daily passenger volume was 2.036 million and the total passenger volume for the whole year reached 740 million.

Six lines in operation

At the end of last year, the northern part of Line 5 (phase I) and Line 10 (phase I) were put into trial operation. At present, the Chongqing Rail Transit of Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, Line 5 (phase I), Line 6, and Line 10 (phase I) are in operation, with a total length of 264.3 kilometers.

Two lines will be put into operation within the year

This year, the Chongqing Rail Transit line may be extended by nearly 50 kilometers. The phase I, project of Line 4, one of Chongqing’s key backbone lines, is scheduled to go into trial operation within this year.

The Northeast Ring project of the orbital loop line, the only closed loop line in Chongqing Rail Transits, is scheduled to go into trial operation within the year. It has a total length of about 33.7 kilometers, with 24 stations.
