Chongqing confronting with summer drought and maximum temperature can be 41℃

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- According to Chongqing Meteorological Bureau, Chongqing’s climate will turn from waterlogging to drought from July 10. The periodic sunny and hot weather with less rainfall will start, and the most of districts will have about 20 days with temperature over 35℃ and the maximum temperature up to be about 41℃.

Since the flood season came this year, the average temperature of the whole city is 23.9℃, which is 0.4℃ higher than that (23.5℃) of the normal years, and 1 ℃ higher than that of the same period in the last year. Among which, it is 0.2℃ and 0.5℃ higher than that of May and June of last year, and 0.3℃ higher than that of the first ten-day period of July in the last year. During such period, 6.1 days has the maximum temperature over the average temperature 35℃ of the whole city, which is 1.8 days more than that of the normal years, and 3.3 days more than that of the same period in the last period. The high temperature mainly appears in the west and northeast Chongqing, and Kaizhou will experience 16 high-temperature days.

According to Chongqing Meteorological Bureau, Chongqing’s climate will turn from waterlogging to drought from July 10. The periodic sunny and hot weather with less rainfall will start, and the most of districts will have about 20 days with temperature over 35℃. During such period, the maximum temperature will be 38~40℃, and that of flatlands and river valleys will be up to be about 41℃. The west, middle and northeast Chongqing will experience 20-25 days of summer drought, and local severe convection.
