The weather expert says that the rainstorm in the Sichuan Basin is caused by the sufficient water vapor transport provided by the Southwest Monsoon and the constant movement eastward in the high altitude, which coordinates with the medium and minimum-altitude shear line. And because of the stable subtropical high, the rainfall system is "obstructed" and can’t continue to move eastward to Chongqing, so it only is over the Sichuan Basin with sustained effect, forming days of heavy rain.
