Face recognition for taxi driver in main urban areas to be available

2018-07-30 09:52:31

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- It’s learnt from Chongqing City Road Transport Administration that the Administration is now updating the taxi management and service system. By the end of this year, the taxi in the main urban areas is expected to use face recognition for drivers. They will not only have to punch the clock by “facial screening” before driving but also will be captured randomly during the operation to prevent them from fatigue driving.

The taxi trunks will be equipped with cameras to help passengers find their lost property.

It is known that at present, there are 15,000 existing taxis in the main urban areas which are all loaded with taxi intelligent terminals. This updating is both targeted at the taxi management and service system and the intelligent terminal which is expected to be used widely by the end of this year.

The related officials of Taxi Office of the Administration introduced that after the system updating the driver needs to conduct face recognition except screening his/her qualification certificate before driving. If the driver fails to accord with his certificate or he cannot be connected with the background monitoring system, he then cannot start the taximeter and carry out operation.

At the same time, during taxi’s operation, the camera built in the car will also snapshot the driver. On the one hand, the photo captured can be compared with figure who punched the clock. If the driver is not the same with the former, the backend will notice the company. On the other hand, the staff at the backend can check whether the driver is still driving when he is tired or smoking and then warn and correct him timely.

“When some passengers are taking a taxi, they are prone to put their luggage in the trunk but forget it when they get off.” The charger revealed that they were going to install cameras outside the taxi and in the trunk to help passengers find their lost property.
