Enjoy Chongqing fine food along the Chongqing Rail Transit route

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Along Chongqing’s rail transit route, there are not only many interesting attractions, but also a lot of delicious food. Let’s have a look.

Sigongli Station of Line 3: Xiaobing Old Hot Pot

Near the Exit 4 of Sigongli Station, within about 10 minutes’ walk, there is an old hot pot restaurant that is hidden in traditional styled residential houses – Xiaobin Old Hot Pot. The entrance is at a three-way intersection and the restaurant doesn’t have a sign, so you may easily miss it.

The dishes in the restaurant are pretty fresh, and all food are prepared in front of customers. Food are placed in small plates but comes in large quantities. This is a great place to enjoy authentic Chongqing hot pot.

Linjiangmen Station of Line 2: Yefu Hot Pot

Near the Exit A of Linjiangmen Station, within about 5 minutes’ walk, there is Yefu Hot Pot. Hot pot in the restaurant is spicy stimulating yet delicious. With Sichuan pepper and chili peppers floating in the pot, the heavy stimulating taste may make you cry, as your tongue is numb, and nothing can be felt; nevertheless, you would want more of it, searching every bit of delicacies in the boiling pot. 

Yuanjiagang Station of Line 2: Jiangyu Never Closing

The restaurant is located about 10 minutes’ walk from the Exit A of Yuanjiagang Station toward Daping. A small restaurant with an enormous sign is where Jiangyu located. As its name suggests, it opens for 24 hours a day. Its feature cuisine is Boiled Pork Slices, the meat of which is tender and delicious with all the ingredients. At 2:00 am, drivers who need to have a midnight snack would come to the restaurant, a place that is a genuine midnight cafe for them. 

Daping Station of Line 2: Pig Ears Noodles

Walk for 10 minutes toward Yangjiaping from the Exit 4B of Daping and there is “Half Day in Business Pig Ears Noodles”. The pig ears of the restaurant is cut in strips and are offered in quota: if noodles sold out by noon then the shop is closed for the day. Some customers would drive to the restaurant for the pig ears, and that’s what the charm of Chongqing delicacies is.

Liziba Station of Line 2: Liangshan Chicken

Walk for 10 minutes from the Exit A of Liziba Station and there comes “Liziba Liangshan Chicken” at the corner. A table is so precious because restaurant is always full of people waiting in line at dining time. Plaques on which Chongqing dialects are written are everywhere at the restaurant with ancient table ware emanate the taste of old Chongqing culture. The restaurant owner hangs a big plaque which says, “Absolute Integrity”, and that’s the spirit of Chongqing people: upright and candid. 

Lianglukou Station of Line 1: Gourmet Food Street on the stairway

Stairway at Jianxing Slope used to be a shortcut connecting Lianglukou and Caiyuanba for Chongqing people, and it has 209 stairs and a length of over 300 meters, with an altitude difference of 60 meters, gourmet shops filled both sides of the street, selling bean curd with rice, noodles, dry hot pot, old hot pot… If you are looking for memory of food a decade ago you shall definite pay a visit here.
