CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- There are many mountains and rivers in Chongqing. Chongqing is built leaning the mountains and is developed due to the rivers. Boat restaurants on the river used to attract customers from all over the world. But the emergence of more and more boat restaurants has become a burden for clear water and green mountains. And some illegal boat restaurants directly discharge catering sewage into the river, as a result, the water is polluted. Since the end of last year, Chongqing has carried out special pollution improvement actions on boat restaurants. Recently, Beibei District started to dismantle 5 boat restaurants on Jialing River.

It is called Jiangzhou Yugang, with a total of 1,761 tons, and was built in 1990s. Over 20 years, it was situated at Beibei Wharf, witnessing the ebb and flow of tides and people. In order to make mountains greener and rivers clearer, it will eventually exit the Jialing River.

Steel guardrail is the main structure of a boat restaurant. After dismantling a boat restaurant, hundreds of tons of scrap steel can be produced. These scrap steel will be transported to the purchasing station to change money for owners.

After clearing up the steel guardrail, the interior decoration would be dismantled step by step. The floor and tile need to be knocked out one by one. When doing that, workers should control the strength and take measures to prevent the ship from collapsing into the river and a resulting secondary pollution.

Dismantling a boat is a work requests both physical power and technique. In the process of demolition, on the one hand, the demolition workers are urged to carry out safety precautions; on the other hand, the remaining pollutants should be cleaned up in a timely and orderly manner to prevent the pollution of rivers. 

Like dismantling a house, it takes time to dismantle a steel boat restaurant. But it soon disappears from the river and the water quality will be improved. There is a saying that “Without destroying the old, one cannot build a new”, so shipowners understand and support the government’s action in which the pollution and safety hazards of boat restaurants to the water environment are eliminated from the source.

With the development of comprehensive improvement of boat restaurants, for the improved boat restaurants to remain, strict standards including standardization, environmental protection and safety must be met.
