Wuhan pilots smart street-lamps

2018-09-26 11:44:12

WUHAN, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Authorities in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province, have begun piloting smart street-lamps.

The lamps have many functions, including lighting, surveillance and 5G communication, and can serve as charging stations for new energy vehicles.

The S-shaped lamps can display different colors. Equipped with LED light strips, the lamps can create "dance moves" by showing different colors on demand, according to local official Wang Xi.

"Each street lamp has an independent controller, which can automatically adjust the power according to traffic conditions to save energy," Wang said.

So far, more than 150 such street lamps have been installed on Wuhan's Sanyang Road.
