Recently the renovation work, which was originally expected to be completed on November 20, has been completed 95% of the total project volume with the efforts of the workers day and night, and will be completed ahead of schedule. The Jialing River Bridge, which has been in service for 52 years, has been closed for renovation since April 21 this year due to the existence of many structural deficits.

After more than five months of renovation, 95% of the total engineering volume has been completed.

In this refurbishment, the original concrete deck of the bridge was replaced with steel to reduce the dead load and to improve carrying capacity.

In view of the fact that the Jialing River Bridge is a protected architecture of cultural relics in Chongqing, the renovation is carried out by retaining its original form as much as possible, without changing its structural system and appearance. This is also one of the characteristics of this renovation.

The recent rainy weather made the coating work a difficult task in construction. The contractor set up a small blue tent on the bridge to facilitate the workers.

Due to the recent rainy weather in Chongqing, the workers used every second to its fullest to complete the remaining work in the absence of rain.

Due to exposure to complex weather conditions, the bridge piers and abutments of the Niujiaotuo Jialing River Bridge have various cracks of different sizes. Therefore, the workers have to take the hoist elevator at the 100-meter high bridge deck down to the bridge pier for repair.

The construction of the bridge deck of the Jialing River Bridge was completed 95%, and the asphalt on both sides of the bridge deck was laid. At present, the construction enclosure has been dismantled, and the remaining work is mainly the construction of ancillary facilities, including anti-collision facilities and concrete pavement for sidewalks.
