The "Our Ficus Virens" image exhibition opened at Zengjiayan Academy.

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- If you asked a Chongqing man how much he loved you, and he answered “I love you like I love ficus virens”, he isn’t perfunctory because Chongqing people really have a deep affection for ficus virens. The "Our Ficus Virens" image exhibition was opened at Zengjiayan Academy, which witnesses the development and changes of Chongqing and conveys the love for urban life by presenting the features of ficus virens.

Memory of ficus virens 

The exhibition aims to show the change of Chongqing's legal system by presenting the features of ficus virens.

Many Chongqing people grew up with ficus virens. We might drink tea, have a meal, gain the shade, or enjoy the cool under the tree, walk through hand in hand with the first lover or dance with the music of the stereo hanging on the tree. "Almost each Chongqing person was accompanied by ficus virens in their childhood. It is perseverant, tolerant, indomitable and unyielding, and it is rooted in every corner of Chongqing due to its strong vitality. Ficus virens is around us and provides a shelter for us. It is common yet great. In order to let Chongqing people remember these wonderful memories with ficus virens, we arrange an exhibition for it.” The curator of this exhibition said.

At the scene of the "Our Ficus Virens" image exhibition, the reporter saw more than 40 photographic works. According to the different content, it is divided into several sections, such as Habits Popularization of Ficus Virens, Features of Street & Lane, Chongqing Old Town and Life Scene. But those "drawings" just are the part of that about the city tree - ficus virens. The exhibition will last until November this year, and it will be open for free to the public.

Places of ficus virens

According to the curator, the documentary of the exhibition takes over 3 months to shoot, and more than 200 ficus virens are photographed including in Nan’an’s Huangge Ancient Road and Laojun Cave, Yuzhong’s Shancheng Lane, Tongyuan Gate City Wall, and Luohan Temple as well as the Qianjiang’s Huangge Ancient Ferry. It describes the various relations and constant emotions between Chongqing people and ficus virens in detail, and it also provides a detailed "ficus virens map" to visitors.

Huangge Ancient Road: it was a place which must be passed for Sichuan-Guizhou merchants and is called as the "Silk Road of Chongqing”. It is also the main road for people to walk up and down the mountain. There are many lofty ficus virens whose crown like umbrellas on the both sides of the road. They witness the change of history.

Nanshan Yikeshu: Nanshan Yikeshu is a viewing platform surrounded by Chongqing old ficus virens, and that’s why it’s called Nanshan Yikeshu. There is the best angle to see the night view of Chongqing. You can enjoy the Chongqing view of day and night here.

Zhongshan 4th Road: Its length is 800 meters in total. There are the Residence of Mr. Zhou, Residence of Mr. Dai and Guiyuan (Osmanthus Garden) along the street. Simple buildings are seated along the way, and flourishing ficus virens grow up on both sides of the road, which provide a shade for the pedestrians.
