CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On October 2nd, the Broadway original musical Chicago was put on at Chongqing Grand Theater in Chongqing for the first time. From October 3rd to October 7th, six consecutive performances of Chicago was still played at Chongqing Grand Theater.

The musical show with the longest performance in the history of Broadway and London's West End has won more than 50 international awards including Tony Award and Grammy Award, which has been performed over 32,500 times in more than 490 cities of 36 countries, attracting more than 31 million people around the world to watch it on the spot. 

That night, 23 world-class dancers and singers with a jazz band consisting of 12 people presented a fantastic show to audience. Chicago insisted to use live band to guarantee its vitality, randomness and truthfulness. These accomplished musicians cooperate very well with actors which made the show perfect.

Because of the plot, most of the scenes of the show were black, and the performance team brought 350 lights to highlight the scene. The director said that the stage effect and gorgeous lighting layout of Chicago is not inferior to the version of Broadway and London’s West End, only to bring different musical experience to Chongqing audiences.
