CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- It is universally acknowledged that everyone gets older, and where to spend all that time for the elderly is something that we all care about. As one of the first projects of the “Qianbai Project” (Project of setting 1,000 Community Nursing Home Care Stations and 100 city-level model Nursing Home Care Centers), which aims to provide nursing home care in the communities of Chongqing, the Nursing Home Care Center at Shangqingsi Sub-district in Yuzhong District opened on August 1 and started to offer its service to the elderly. Let’s see what progress the “Qianbai Project” makes via the lives of its residents.

The Shangqingsi Community Nursing Home Care covers an area of 1,810 square meters and has 65 beds. Mainly providing 24-h service for the elderly who lives nearby, it has room for reading, dining and rehabilitation physical therapy. As of now, the center has 16 full-time and 2 day-time residents, the average age of whom is 80, and the eldest one is 95.

The super-sized glass window provides better lighting for the room. At the care center, services such as bath aides, physical rehabilitation, entertainment, food and drink, health consultation and home service are available. 

Picking up marbles, fastening buttons, tying a bow, pulling a zipper... These seemingly simple movements in the eyes of young people are not easy for the disabled elderly. The service center specially prepares the delicate exercise for all the elderly and carries out rehabilitation training on them regularly.

The walls of the service center are also full of interesting little toys. The elderly like the "musical scale" instrument, and they use a small wooden stick to play beautiful notes. In addition, the service center is also equipped with hamsters, cut watermelons, dance mats... The elderly can also do the popular activities.

At the same time, the center is also actively developing “smart nursing”, and there is a blue smart mattress on the bed of the resident. The staff said that when they sleep, they put the smart mattress under, and information about their heart rate, breathing and whether they are in bed, etc. will be collected by the platform in time. Once an abnormality occurs, relevant information will be sent to the wristband worn by the care worker in time. It reminds the care worker that it’s time to help them.

Every day, the diet of the residents is planned by professional dietitians. The meat, vegetables and fruits are rich, and mild food that are easy to chew are mainly offered. The care workers were distributing lunch to the elderly.
