CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The first direct flight of Chongqing-Kathmandu formally departed on the morning of October 19, operated by Himalaya Airlines. It is the third international flight following the flights to North American (Chicago and Toronto) within a week. And it is the second direct passenger flight to South-Asian countries from Chongqing. 

Chongqing-Kathmandu flight departs from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport at 00:05 (Beijing time) every Friday, and arrives at Kathmandu International Airport at 01:55 (local time). It turns back from Kathmandu International Airport at 16:55 (local time) every Thursday, and reaches at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport at 23:05 (Beijing time). A one-way trip takes around 4 hours.

Nepal is an important economy and tourist destination in South Asia，so the opening of this flight enhances the link between Chongqing and Nepal, and offers a convenient way for the economic and trade exchanges between both sides in the future.

Chongqing Airport said that Hainan Airlines opened two international flights: Chongqing - Beijing - Chicago and Chongqing - Beijing - Toronto on October 16 and 17, thus there are the fourth and fifth regular passenger flights to North America in Chongqing.

According to the related person in charge of Chongqing Airport, Chongqing Airport plans to open more international flights this year, including Chongqing to Paris, Yangon, Jakarta, Colombo, Seattle and Boston. (Translated by Jiang Yuling, Fathom Language Limited)
