CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing Culture and Tourism Development Committee forwarded a report from Travel Daily that according to the City Travel and Tourism Impact 2018 released by the World Travel and Tourism Council about analysis on the tourism economy of 72 cities around the world, Chongqing is the fastest growing city in tourism in terms of the direct tourism contribution to GDP.

According to the tourism market size, the top 10 city destinations are respectively Shanghai (US$ 35 billion), Beijing (US$ 32.5 billion), Paris (US$ 28 billion), Orlando (US$ 24.8 billion), New York (US$ 24.8 billion), Tokyo (US$ 21.7 billion), Bangkok (US$ 21.3 billion), Mexico (US$ 19.7 billion), Las Vegas (US$ 19.5 billion) and Shenzhen (US$ 19 billion).

The report says that in light of the direct tourism contribution to GDP, Chongqing ranks first in the Top 10 fastest growing cities in tourism in the world, followed by Chengdu, Shanghai, Lagos (Nigeria), Guangzhou, Teheran (Iran), Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), Istanbul (Turkey), Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Bombay (India).

From January to September this year, Chongqing haswelcomed 410 million domestic and overseas people and achieved a total tourism revenue of 300.457 billion yuan, up 10.82% and 28.56% from last year respectively, especially received 27.881 million inbound visits, up 9.28% from last year.
