How do Hechuan people like fishing?
CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- After sending away the IDBF World Cup, Hechuan is about to welcome another national event, the 2nd Fishing Competition on Jialing River of China in 2018. The Fishing Competition together with the dragon boat race has become one of the featured public sport events in Hechuan District. With three converging there, Hechuan owns a broad mass basis as the “hometown of leisure fishing in China”. If you don't believe it, you can follow the reporter to find out why Hechuan people are so enthusiastic and persistent in fishing.
Hundreds of fishing rods are lined up along Jialing River.
Recently, at the riverside of Jialing River under Nanping Bridge, the reporter saw that hundreds of fishing rods are lined up, which became a unique scenery line along the river. Fishermen sat quietly along the river to wait fishes to bite.
About 400 fishing rods were lined up along the river at an interval about 40cm. There are makeshift sheds covering with plastic film every few dozen meters with recliners, plastic buckets and fishing tools in. Some of fishermen would join different fishing interest groups. During the day, group members will take turns to guard fishing rods and in the evening, some people will be on duty when they get off work, basically realizing rods attended round the clock.
A bell on the fishing rod
Fine and advanced fishing equipment
The reporter remembered that the fishing rod was a bamboo pole or reeds with a small hook in their childhood. They were surprised at fishermen’s fishing rods when they saw the fishing rods. Mr. Li, a fisherman said that current fishing rods are made from carbon fiber materials with high strength, high flexibility and high temperature resistance. And there are various fishing rods and fishhooks to choose.
“It’s not enough to have fine fishing rods. You should equip some necessary tools. Look!” Looking in the direction of Mr. Li pointing at, the reporter saw bells installed on these fishing rods. “We’ll know fishes are on the hook when the bells are ringing.” Mr. Li said that some fishing rods are equipped with new alarms besides bells. Fishermen will hear an alarm even in a long distance when an alarm is ringing by fishing line due to fishes on the hook. Night lights can also suggest that a fish is on the hook. “At night, you can see a row of lights hanging along the riverside, which must be night lights for fishing.”
