CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, the Asian Youth Championship 2018 was held at Huayan Gecko King National Climbing Demonstration Park in Jiulongpo District. 236 players from 15 Asian countries and regions, including Cambodia, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and China, have taken a top “Ballet on Rock” performance for Chongqing people during the 4-day competition.

Preparation for Tokyo Olympic Games, all top climbing stars on site

So far, rock climbing has been available in the official events of the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020, and the qualification competition for the Tokyo Olympic Games will begin in 2019. The results of the Asian Youth Championship will have a certain impact on the qualification competition for the Tokyo Olympic Games. Therefore, the participants this time have the strength in climbing.

There are three items in the Championships: speed competition, difficulty competition and climbing competition, and it divided into 3 groups respectively: Juvenile Group A (born in 2001 and 2002), Juvenile Group B (born in 2003 and 2004) and Youth Group (born in 1999 and 2000).

About the promotion for climbing sports, the Chongqing Climbing Association has its own plans. The secretary general said that the Association is actively training the social sports instructors and coaches of climbing sports, and at the same time carrying out "rock climbing into the campus" to give opportunities for more players from the school opening climbing sports.
