Traditional culture goes into school
CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- “Where does round hand fan originate from?” Recently, the Cultural Center of Jiangbei initiated an activity, “Your Hand with Mine” (大手牵小手), introduced traditional culture to the pupils of Fusheng Experiment School. 50 schoolkids painted round hand fans and experienced the unique charm of the traditional craftsmanship.
During the event, cultural volunteers from Jiangbei brought the student “guzheng” (Chinese zither) and “round hand fans”, both of which quintessence of traditional Chinese culture. And through classical folk music and traditional craftsmanship teaching, the children were able to know the rich content of Chinese traditional culture.
At the event of appreciating guzheng, the volunteer Zhou Xixi played several demo tunes and taught the children to play Song of the Yimeng Mountain. While at the event of painting round hand fans, the kids learned the basic technique in painting with Chinese ink and wash and were able to make fun yet elegant ones after the volunteers explained the way to produce them.
