Visitors are seeing the "Mirror of Time" - the 1st Chongqing Experimental Image Biennial at SFAI.

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- As one of the 2018 Chongqing (International) Image Culture Festival series, “Mirror of Time” - the 1st Chongqing Experimental Image Biennial (hereinafter referred to as “Biennial”) has been held at Art Museum of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (Daxuecheng Campus).

This Biennial includes 10 divisions such as “Old Factories” “Between Life and Death” “Projective Nature” "Personal Narrative” "Teaching 1+2", "Reading Interaction" and "Daily Life". Among them, the re-creation of Rent Collection Courtyard is the highlight in this exhibition. The Biennial used the "1+2" (1 teacher + 2 students) method to re-create the masterwork. Qin Wen, the president of the Chongqing Large-format Photography Association, has shot the work from the back. Qin told that he took hundreds of photos from the back and then put them together to form the 16.8-meter finished product, after months of research and investigation. It is very impressive.

"We try to express the thinking about the passage of time and cosmic space with multiple artistic vision and thinking modes.” said by Li Chuan, the deputy director of New Media Art Department, SFAI.

The “Ruins of Chongqing Iron and Steel” created by the artist Dai Xiaobing is a large-format picture of 5.2m x 4.2m. Dai said, “I spent four years on photographing and recording Chongqing Iron and Steel.” He has chosen electronic color separation technique to digitize films and then sprayed it onto cotton canvas, finally he has created such large-size work.

"Images are an extremely important medium in modern times. Artists should think and explore the maximum possibility of image transmission in an experimental spirit, and record the current era.” Wang Lin, the curator of the exhibition, said.

This exhibition will be open for free until November 25. (Translated by Jiang Yuling, Fathom Language Limited)
