CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Registration is now open for the 2019 Chongqing International Marathon, which is to be held on March 31, 2019 at Nanbin Road. A pre-registration is required for the full and half marathon races. Now register for the event!

As a traditional sports event in Chongqing, the Chongqing International Marathon is in its 8th session, attracting thousands of people who love running. It has been awarded a Marathon Championship Event by the Chinese Athletic Association and an IAAF Gold Label Road Race by the International Association of Athletics Federations. As one of the four marathon tournaments in China, it has become a symbol for the sports industry of Chongqing.

The marathon race next year is also sponsored by the Chinese Athletic Association and the Administration of Sport of Chongqing and has events of full marathon, half marathon, mini marathon and family marathon. The starting line for the half and mini marathons is at Chongqing Nanbin Park, and the finishing line is at Nanbin Park, Ertang Square and under Chaotianmen Bridge respectively; while the family marathon starts at Nanbin Park and ends at Landmark Riverside Shopping Park.

The total number of people for the event is capped at 30,000, with a quota of 12,000 for the full marathon, 5,500 for the half marathon, 10,500 for the mini marathon and 2,000 for the family marathon. Registration becomes more popular as the event shares a more significant reputation over the years, with winning rate as low as 20 per cent for the last year. The event next year still requires a pre-registration.

And on the initiation ceremony, the organizing committee announced that the pre-registration starts for full and half marathons from now on. You can preregister via the event’s website or its Wechat account. The committee is to cast lots on December 10 and the results will be out at 10:00 the day after, then you can check if you win via the above channels. Registration for mini, charity and family marathons are to kick off at 10:00 on December 13.

To further introduce Chongqing culture to the runners, the committee fine-tuned the design of the medals for the event, incorporating the theme, color and other elements of the medals into the event sportswear. “Jiefangbei, Huguang Guild Hall, Dongshuimen Bridge and other featured buildings in Chongqing as well as Chongqing Railway Transit will be featured on the medals to let runners know Chongqing more.” related person in charge said.
