“Many artists have painted the beautiful natural scenes in Gongtan Ancient Town, where people live life to the fullest,” said Liu Mingming, the director of Watercolor Committee of Chongqing Artists Association and a professor at Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. Her father grew up by the river of Wujiang, a place she has a deep affection for. Liu said that the approximate 20 works depicting Youyang Gongtan from the exhibition, with their vivid colors, showcased the history and culture of the Gongtan Ancient Town and from it we can see the multiple ways and modes of thinking the artists have in depicting the scenery.

Liu also said that Chongqing Artists Association had started accepting works for exhibition that depicting the changing era, natural scenes and cultural customs from young painters of watercolor and pastel since July. And in several months, over 300 works had been submitted, by amateurs, teachers from primary, secondary and tertiary schools as well as students from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and Southeast University, and 117 of them are featured following an extensive and careful assessment by the experts.
