ABUJA, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria's apex body of culture on Wednesday hosted "China Day" as part of the activities marking the 11th International Arts and Crafts Expo in the capital Abuja.

The National Council for Arts and Crafts (NCAC) said the China Day celebration at the seven-day expo, themed "Networking Nigerian Arts and Crafts to the World," was put together in recognition of the strong cultural bond between China and Nigeria.

Showing the rich cultural heritage of China and its people, various performances, including the Chinese Dragon Dance, were in colorful display at the China Day celebration. All the performances were done by locals, mostly secondary school students in Abuja.

Li Xuda, the cultural counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, said cultural exchange between China and Nigeria "has come to stay and would lead to better cooperation in the future."

Li, also director of China Cultural Center in Abuja, said that having China Day at the cultural expo is a dream coming true, and it shows Nigeria's commitment toward having a stronger cultural exchange with China.

He noted that as part of the cultural integration program between the two countries, 12 "Chinese Corners" have been established in Abuja.
