CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The Group 4, Ningding Village, Zhaojia Sub-district is located in the junction of Kaizhou District and Yunyang County. There is the largest number of and most abundant cliffside carvings named Guanyinyan Bas-reliefs. The reporter recently came to the village to explore it.

Standing on an earth slope of Ningding Village, a newly repaired Chinese style architecture appears indistinctly among the mist. The used viewing platform has been changed into a hall, which looks neat and cool in antique bricks and wood structure.

The cliffside carvings are distributed on a natural rock. The stone carving is over 10 meters long and about 8 meters high, covering an area of nearly 100 square meters. There are dozens of statues on the rock in different sizes and different forms. Some of the stone carvings with hands folded in front of the belly while chanting with eyes closed, and some of them with hands holding implements while whispering…

These stone carvings were built in the 25th year of the reign of Qianlong Emperor in the Qing Dynasty, with a 258-year history since then. Although they have been eroded by wind and rain for many years, most of the stone carvings are still vivid and amazing.

The historical relics of the Cliffside carvings coexisting with the cliff condense the infinite wisdom of the pioneers of Kaizhou, leaving the descendants a tangible humanistic contexture, which adds a profound humanity to Kaizhou. (Translated by Mao Qiao, Fathom Language Limited)
