Annual Exhibition of Teachers’ Works in SFAI

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- On December 5th, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute launched the annual exhibition of teachers' works with the theme of “Chongqing: Journey to New Accomplishments”. The artists of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute created a lot of good pieces to praise Chongqing and new era with passion and dedication, and the works show the enormous changes of Chongqing at the 40th Anniversary since the reform and opening up. A total of 346 representative works of the school teachers were exhibited this time. Among them, the teacher from School of New Media -- Lu Tingting's “Pi Zhahuo’s Black Cloud”, and the “Conceptual Animation Design of Ecology along the Yangtze River” by Tao Yu from School of Animation, won the “President Nomination Award” for this year's exhibition.

“Pi Zhahuo’s Black Cloud” is completed on a huge Dai paper by Lu Tingting when she was in the Dai village of Yunnan. Behind this art paper is a projection light that symbolizes “the sun shining through the clouds”. Lu said: “This work took inspiration of Dai People’s myth of their god creating the world, in which I want to pay tribute to our traditional intangible cultural heritage and the working people.” She said that nowadays Yunnan people are taking advantage of Dai paper’s values both on history and profit facets. The correlative industries are doing very well.

“Conceptual Animation Design of Ecology along the Yangtze River” is the image series designed by Tao Yu, together with some students. It was originally designed for a 90-minute animated film. Among the six conceptual images on display, there are aquatic plants, Chinese sturgeon, white pelican, deer, panda and other animals and plants, all of which will be made into cartoon characters and appear as a family to tell the Yangtze River’s ecosystem& environmental protection.

Besides, at site you can also see the works such as “The Beginning of Red Clay”, “The Drizzle of Dandelion” and “Shun Shui Wonderland”, etc. They all use innovative methods to show and reflect the tremendous achievements, rapid development of Chongqing and China.
