CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The model showed the cool fashionable clothes on the stage but no audience found that these clothes are made of paper. Recently, for the first Chongqing University Student Fashion Week and "Yangtze River Cup" Chongqing University Student Fashion Design Newcomers Competition, its final has been held in the Daxuecheng campus of Chongqing Normal University with 260 sets of works designed by 64 excellent college students in person.

Mainly designed by the Ren Yujie, a senior at the Academy of Fine Arts of Chongqing Normal University, the cool dress called Mi Sheng (弥·生) gives rise to unanimous praise from judges and audiences.

It is used the lightweight material, novel style and unique pattern of Naxi Dongba characters. Dongba character is a kind of pictographic which can show the meaning of both ideographic and phonetic components. And it belongs to the early form of the origin of characters because of its form like picture. "This is a great gain when I went to Yunnan to collect information.” Ren Yujie said that she decided to do some new try in the competition due to her familiarity with many ethnic elements. “Dongba character is like the picture. A feeling of illustration attacked me after I chose several good-looking characters into the design.” Ren told reporters that she did not know these characters’ meanings. "It looked beautiful.”

She introduced the clothes were finally designed after voting down more than 50 works. Its material is not the cloth, but the Naxi Dongba handmade paper. However, it isn’t made of Dongba handmade paper totally because this paper is too thin and can be broken carelessly. Use the AB gum for artifacts to glue them together after the finish of drawing figures of Dongba characters on the paper.

From the participating works of 260 sets, 10 Top Newcomers Awards, 20 Excellent Awards, 10 Best Instructor Awards, 46 Excellent Instructor Awards, and 15 Education Awards are selected on the same day.
