CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Sunny days finally come after the cloudy and drizzly weather for days. The distance between main districts to Jiangjin has been greatly shortened since the opening of Jiangjin-Xishui Expressway. Now, we will introduce 3 self-drive routes for you to have fun.

Route 1: a parent-child tour

Self-drive route: main districts - Huilong Mansion - Longtan Lake - Simian Mountain

Brief introduction: this route focuses on Simian Mountain Scenic Area, with landscapes and humanities involved, which is suitable for a parent-child tour.

Drive duration: 2-hour drive

Huilong Mansion

Huilong Mansion, even not familiar to many Chongqing people, is reopened this year after its completion of renovation. The mansion in mountains seems like the “Forbidden City” of Chongqing, mysterious and modest.

The “three-courtyard architectural arrangement” (used to adapt to the transition from the public spaces to private spaces step by step) was used in constructing the grand and magnificent mansion. It covers a construction area of over 20,000 square meters, equivalent to 2 standard international courts. There are 328 stone pillars supporting the mansion. Each of them is over 10 thousand jin (a unit of measurement in China), so you can imagine how difficult the construction works then. 

Longtan Lake

It is a natural lake. In winter, the water glistened in the warm sunlight, which is quite beautiful. Four mountains around the lake soaring into the clouds, surrounded by mist, are like 4 painted screens.

Simiam Mountain

In winter, the mountain is surrounded by mist. You’ll be captivated by the wonderful scenery of valley when you are standing on the cliff. Everything is wonderful, wandering in mountains without the crowds in summer.

Route 2: an artistic tour

Self-drive route: main districts - Jukui College - Baisha Ancient Town- Baisha Film and Television Base

Brief introduction: this route focuses on the humanity of Jiangjin, which is suitable for young artists. And there are many places for shooting.

Drive duration: 2-hour drive

Tips: you can take No. 5612 at Caiyuanba Railway Station to Baisha. It’ll leave at 10:06 a.m. and arrive at Baisha at 12:33 p.m.

Jukui Academy

It is the unique college school in China, the first school adapting flipped classroom in China and also the only one that charges visiting fees in China. Its foundation is even 28 years earlier than the foundation of Peking University. The college, hidden in Heishi Mountain of Jiangjin, is a courtyard building in Qing Dynasty. It is the best preserved college garden building in Chongqing.

Baisha Ancient Town

The town is more charming than other places. Stepping up along the stone path, you’ll see lush trees and green waters. There is not much crowded, so that everything is original.

Baisha Ancient Town is next to a river. You’ll be comfortable with river breeze blowing. If you’re tired, you can drink some tea and listen to the storyteller at a traditional teahouse.

Baisha Film and Television Base

Many scenes of films and TV series were filmed there. You can take the trains here to experience the time travel to the Period of Anti-Japanese War. “Chaotianzui in Baisha and Chaotianmen in Chongqing”. You can recollect the history of old Chongqing at Baisha Chaotianzui Wharf.

Route 3: unexpected adventure

Self-drive route: main districts - Mojiagou Ancient Great Wall - Zhongshan Ancient Town - Love Ladder

Brief introduction: It is suitable for friends who want to explore the wild. It takes more time on foot, so it is not suitable for the elderly and children.

Drive duration: about 2-hour drive

Mojiagou Ancient Great Wall

There is an ancient Great Wall of Qing Dynasty in Jiangjin. Though it is not as grand as Badaling Great Wall, you can also be shocked at the amazing ancient buildings and the society and culture hundreds of years ago. It is called Mojiagou “Ancient Great Wall”, with a total length of 3 km. You can only walk nearly 1 km and the rest of it is in the lush forest.

You’ll see magical peaks, stone tablets carved with “Taishan Shigandang”, deep grotto and many historical sites. There is a waterfall flowing down with various Danxia stones scattered.

Zhongshan Ancient Town

There is a river, stilted building and delicacies in the town. The local preserved meat is unique. You’ll be satisfied there and your horizon will be changed in the long ancient town. The special tempo is formed by hardworking men and lazy cats and dogs, which is the real feature of life. 

As regards delicacies, there is rice with bean curd, fishes in Sunxi River, tofu dried by smoke and glutinous rice cake made on stones. All of them are the classics in the memories of generations.

Love Ladder

In 1950s, Liu Guojiang, a 20-year-old young man of a peasant family, fell in love with a beautiful widow Xu Chaoqing who is 10 years older than him. In order to avoid gossips from others, they eloped to the mountains. Liu Guojiang devoted his whole life to the work of cutting a ladder on the cliff toward the outside world in light of the safety of Xu Chaoqing. This Love Ladder once became the “Holy Land” for lovers. Then it became a scenic spot naturally. 

You can take the one you love there and climb the steps over 6,000 together to experience the faithful love story.
