GUANGZHOU, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- A comprehensive counter-terrorism emergency drill was held at an airport in Guangzhou in southern China's Guangdong Province Wednesday.

The "Yun'an-2018" drill, participated by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), public security department and armed police in Guangdong, China Southern Airlines, and Guangdong Airport Authority, is the largest in China in six years.

The drill included the handling of hijacking and terrorist attacks, aiming to test the actual combat capacity and effectiveness of the civil aviation system.

Real aircraft, scenarios and weapons were used during the drill, which took place at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, assembling forces from civil aviation, police, customs, immigration inspection, firefighting and medical institutions, according to the CAAC.

Latest applications of scientific and technological informatization and intelligent policing were showcased in the process, it said.

Nearly 1,000 representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security, the Central Military Commission, the CAAC, the provincial government of Guangdong as well as airline companies watched the drill.
