CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Compared with 38 years ago, how dramatical change the public transport has in current Chongqing. One "old Chongqing" person especially chose two significant places to record the great change in public transport by two sets of comparative photographs.

Chen Zhengming, a member of Chongqing Photographers Association, worked in Shangqingsi 40 years ago. Every day, he needed to squeeze into the bus at Jiangbei Cha yuan Bus Stop, and then transferred to Shangqingsi at Guanyinqiao.

"At that time, there were few vehicles and public transport was underdeveloped.” In his memory, getting on a bus is as cruel as a battle. People rushed to the coming bus, and some turned over railings, some climbed its windows and so on.

Mr. Chen, 22, took a picture describing the scene of getting on bus at Guanyinqiao Bus Stop in 1980, which shows the inconvenient traffic at that time. After that, urban public transport became more and more developed, and now there are not only air-conditioned buses, but also subway, light rail, taxi and others.

Chen came to Guanyinqiao Bus Stop again and shot photos on June 25 this year. “The platform is neatly and beautifully built. Everyone is in line for getting on buses, which reflects the greatly improved degree of civilization.”

Another sat of photos is about the Shibanpo Yangtze River Bridge. This bridge is the first highway bridge over the Yangtze River in Chongqing. Several trucks drove from the bridge and crowds cheered on both sides of its head part, which is the scene taken by Chen Zhengming at Shibanpo on July 1, 1980.

On June 25 this year, Chen came to Shibanpo and took photos of the bridge from the same angle as 38 years ago. The bridge has been improved from a single-line bridge with two-way traffic to a double-line bridge with one-way traffic respectively. There is a striking change in Nan’an District, opposite to Shibanpo. It has erected high-rise buildings from former hillsides.
