CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing oil painting plays a very important role in the China oil painting all the time. Recently, the Chongqing First Oil Painting Biennial was opened in Chongqing Art Museum with 2 exhibition areas - Chongqing Art Museum and Art Museum of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, lasting to January 13, 2019 free of charge for the public.

This exhibition is sponsored by Chongqing Oil Painting Society. The selection of exhibition works is adopted the form of invitation system and the evaluation system. The over 180 works out of 1,176 submitted by all levels of people from starting have been selected by Organizing Committee with the guidance of academic principles. 

Given the effective communication and the spreading scope, the exhibition is specially divided into 2 areas - Chongqing Art Museum (Exhibition Hall 2, 3, 4) and Art Museum of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute (Exhibition Hall 10, 11).

“Chongqing is to undertake the exhibition area for oil painting and sculpture of the 13th National Fine Arts Exhibition. This exhibition can be said to be a preview on the aspect of oil painting for the upcoming National Fine Arts Exhibition.” Pang Maokun, the president of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, said that the contribution of Chongqing oil painting to Chinese fine arts has been widely recognized in history. Chongqing oil painting has always been at the academic forefront of Chinese fine arts and has taken the necessary responsibility whatever in the success of “Art of Scars” and “Art of Local Colors” or the influence of internationalization in the 1990s.
