Chongqing Airlines opens Chongqing-Colombo direct flight

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recently, Chongqing Airlines officially has opened the Chongqing-Colombo air route, with 3 flights a week. It is the 6th international route operated by Chongqing Airlines following Bangkok, Phuket, Singapore, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh. With its opening, it can only take you about 6 hours and 15 minutes from Chongqing to Sri Lanka, "Pearl on the Indian Ocean".

This air route is the first regular direct flight to Sri Lanka in Chongqing, using the brand-new Airbus A320neo aircraft with 166 seats, including 4 first-class cabins, 24 high-end economy cabins and 138 economy cabins.

There will be three round-trip flights between Chongqing and Sri Lanka every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, which takes off from Chongqing at 17:25 (Beijing time), and arrives at Colombo at 21:00 (Sri Lanka time); departs from Colombo at 22:10 (Sri Lanka time) and reaches at Chongqing at 06:10 (Beijing time).

Its opening will improve the situation that passengers spent over 10 hours in transit and provide more convenient choices for them. Meanwhile, it will further strengthen the social, economic and cultural exchanges between Chongqing and Sri Lanka so as to benefit the development of Chongqing global tourism and the construction of inland open economy.

International regular routes are open in Chongqing in 2018

1. On January 13, Sichuan Airlines launched the direct air route from Chongqing to Kalibo, Philippines with A320 aircraft respectively flying on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, with a flight for 4 hours.

2. On January 16, Chongqing Airlines opened direct air route from Chongqing to Hanoi, Vietnam, with 4 shifts in total on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

3. On April 2, direct flight air route from Chongqing to Ho Chi Minh was launched with Airbus A320 run by Chongqing Airlines, which is the first direct flight route to Ho Chi Minh in Chongqing.

4. On June 18, Sichuan Airlines served direct air route from Chongqing to Da Nang, Vietnam with a flight on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday respectively.

5. On August 17, a direct air route to Sihanoukville, Cambodia was in use in Chongqing, operated by Cambodia Jingcheng International Airlines (JC) with 3 shifts in total on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

6. On October 16, Flight HU497 of Hainan Airlines took off from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, which means the fair route from Chongqing-Beijing-Chicago started smoothly. It is the 4th regular passenger route from Chongqing to North America.

7. On October 17, Chongqing Airport opened Chongqing-Beijing-Toronto air route operated by Hainan Airlines, which further enhances the route network of Chongqing Airport in North America.

8. On October 19, the first direct air route from Chongqing to Kathmandu was launched, operated by Himalayan Airlines with about 4 hours, which is the 2nd direct passenger flight from Chongqing to South-Asian countries.

9. On December 8, the AirAsia opened Chongqing-Jiami air route with a flight daily, which is the 3rd fixed-point direct flight route opened by AirAsia in Chongqing.

10. On December 11, Hainan Airlines opened its Chongqing-Shanghai-Boston air route.

11. On December 12, Hainan Airlines opened its Chongqing-Shanghai-Seattle air route, which means the "2+4” (2 direct flight routes and 4 stop-off flight routes) flight network has been formed from Chongqing to North America, so it can offer flights to the East and West coasts of North America every day, with 18 flights per week.

12. On December 18, Hainan Airlines opened its Chongqing-Paris air route, which runs one flight every Wednesday and Saturday. This is the 2nd direct flight to Europe opened by Hainan Airlines in Chongqing after Chongqing-Rome air route, also is the 2nd direct flight to Western Europe in Chongqing.
