2019-01-17 09:41:40

BEIJING, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Beijing is regulating its road parking spots by introducing e-toll equipment, with standardized pricing set by the municipal government.

A total of 13,644 full-white-line parking spots on 166 roads in three pilot districts of Xicheng, Dongcheng and Tongzhou have been upgraded since Jan. 1.

The city's transport body has rearranged roadside parking spots and installed electronic parking meters in the three districts, according to Rong Jun, deputy director of Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport.

By the end of 2019, Beijing residents will enjoy the convenience of e-toll parking citywide. Parking fees will be collected based on car-plate recognition technology and via mobile payment in general.

Comprehensive parking regulations on hutong alleys are underway, with parking in downtown hutong alleys prohibited.

The registered number of automobiles in the city was 6.08 million at the end of last year.
