CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Chongqing unique humanistic spirit is formed by many celebrities who born in Chongqing throughout history. With the Chongqing Geographic Information Center, the Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources has issued the “Map of Celebrities in Chongqing History (Original Birthplace)”. Let's have a look at several celebrities in Chongqing history and review their spirit recorded in the long history together.

Chongqing people are righteous, loyal and honest. The general Ba Manzi committed suicide by slitting his throat to compensate for his promises ceding those three towns; Qin Liangyu is more righteous than men; Qiu Shaoyun is not afraid of fire burning on his body for protecting his fellows; and Liu Bocheng and Nie Rongzhen found a republic state. Chongqing people are wise with strong courage, including the “Chinese Shipping Magnate” Lu Zuofu who regains the shipping right on Chuanjiang River. Chongqing people love life, full of romance. There are numerous men of letters in ancient time, famous filmmakers Xia Yunhu and Zhong Dianfei, and the people's musician Shi Guangnan.

Ten celebrities from Chongqing

Ba Manzi

Bamenzi, a native of Zhongzhou, Ba Kingdom (now Zhongxian County, Chongqing Municipality), was a military general of the ancient Ba kingdom in the last Eastern Zhou Dynasty (mid-Warring States Period). His story is eulogized in the area of Bayu due to the achievement of not ceding those three towns with his life, as well as his good characters of loyalty and faithfulness.

Zhao Zhifeng

Zhao Zhifeng, with religious name of Zhizong, is a native of Changzhou in Southern Song Dynasty (now Dazu, Chongqing Municipality) and the founder of Dazu Baoding Stone Carving.

Qin Liangyu

Qin Liangyu, with courtesy name of Zhensu, a native of Zhongzhou, Sichuan Province (now Zhongxian County, Chongqing Municipality), a famous woman general in the late Ming Dynasty, is the only one who would be recorded as a dynastic general in the official history.

Zou Rong

Zou Rong, a native of Baxian County, Chongqing Municipality (now Yuzhong District, Chongqing Municipality), a famous bourgeois revolutionary propagandist in modern China, devoted himself to the Democratic revolution to be the first excellent Chongqing man in modern Chinese history.

Zhao Shiyan

Zhao Shiyan, a native of Youyang, Chongqing Municipality, is a proletarian revolutionist of the early Communist Party of China (CPC), spreader of Marxist theory, leader of the workers’ movement, and one of the founders of the CPC.

Lu Zuofu

Lu Zuofu, a native of Hechuan, Chongqing Municipality, is a modern notable patriotic industrialist, educator and social activist. He is the founder of Minsheng Company and pioneer of Chinese shipping industry, known as "Chinese Shipping Magnate" and "Father of Beibei".

Qiu Shaoyun

Qiu Shaoyun, born in Qiujiagou, Yuping Village, Shaoyun Town, Tongliang District, Chongqing Municipality (formerly Tongliang County, Sichuan Province), is a revolutionary martyr. On December 4, 1952, he was regarded as the “great soldier” on the article of People's Daily.

Liu Bocheng

Liu Bocheng, a native of Kaizhou, Chongqing Municipality, is an excellent Party member of the CPC, marshal of the People's Republic of China, one of the founders of the People's Liberation Army, great proletarian revolutionist, militarist, Marxist military theorist, and military educator.

Nie Rongzhen

Nie Rongzhen, a native of Jiangjin, Chongqing Municipality, is a proletarian revolutionist, militarist, outstanding leader of the CPC and state, one of the founders of the People's Liberation Army, the marshal of the People's Republic of China, and founding father of the People's Republic of China.

Yang Shangkun

Yang Shangkun, a native of Tongnan, Chongqing Municipality, is a great proletarian revolutionist, politician and militarist, the Marxist and outstanding leader of the CPC, state and people's army.
