Last tower building of Chongqing Raddles City Project topped out

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- As the last concrete was delivered to the roof, the main structure of Tower 1 of Bidding Section B of Chongqing Raddles City Project, which was contracted to build by the China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp. Ltd, has been fully completed. The height of Tower 1 is 230 meters from the bottom to the top. The topping-out of Tower 1 means that it has finished all the main structures of Chongqing Raddles City Project.

The last concrete was delivered to the roof.

Arc-shaped facades & intelligent climbing frame system

The project is seated in Chaotianmen, Yuzhong District, which is an architectural complex consisted of eight super high-rise tower buildings, a podium building and an air corridor. All facades of tower buildings are arc-shaped, like sails slightly bent by the wind, so it is called "朝天扬帆" (Chaotian Yangfan). The project covers five core fields: high-end housing, shopping malls, office buildings, five-star hotels and service apartments.

"There are many difficulties in the construction of Tower 1." He Xing, a technical director of Tower 1, said that when the ROOF floor (the first layer) of podium building had completed and the main construction of the tower started, the Ren (in Chinese “人”)-shaped suspension structure was the first problem required to solve. At the south end of Tower 1, there are two arc-shaped reinforced concrete hanging columns intersecting with the peripheral columns on the coaxial line on the Floor 22 so as to create a hanging structure.

"This structure is designed to bear the load by the upper part, and it is extremely unstable for without support force in the construction." He Xing said that the Project Department innovatively built a steel support platform to support hanging columns on Floor L2, and synchronously set up inclined steel support layer by layer between hanging column and main structure to form a self-stabilizing system, which ensures the smooth construction of hanging structure.

Because arc-shaped facades on the north and south of Tower 1, it is difficult to use traditional climbing frame for climbing up. So after improvement and innovation, the Project Department adopts the intelligent climbing frame system for super high-rise curved facade. Using innovative tool-type triangular truss bearing and tool-type constructional column is to ensure the smooth climbing of the climbing frame on the curved surface.

The capping-out of Tower 1 means that it has finished all the main structures of Chongqing Raddles City Project. At present, the podium building and several other tower buildings are in the preparatory stage for completion acceptance, and after the capping-out of Tower 1, follow-up work will be carried out orderly.
