A group of pupils take CRT to look for “Nian”

Students and teachers from Tongxin Primary School in Liangjiang New Area take CRT to look for “Nian”.

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Winter vacation comes with the New Year. Recently, a group of second grade students from Tongxin Primary School in Liangjiang New Area travel over 100 kilometers to look for “Nian” along the 6 CRT lines.

In 3 days, these pupils interview more than 200 pedestrians about “what is Nian” in many places along the CRT lines, including Coqikou Ancient Town, University Town, Chongqingbei Railway Station, No. 3 Terminal, Bijin Park, Shihuishi Market, Jiefangbei, Hongyadong and Chongqing Grand Theatre. 

Before departure, these pupils are divided into several groups, and they are arranged to: interview at least one pedestrian about where is Nian at destinations, find 3 to 5 places with New Year atmosphere and photo them, write a study diary under the guidance of teacher. Finally, they need to complete a creative picture book Chongqing New Year in group.

In these children’s diaries, for university students in University Town, Nian means reunion; for the sanitation workers in the railway station, Nian means busier work; and for the elderly who pass the park to shop, Nian means a big meal in the Chinese New Year’s Eve. 

Li Tingting, head teacher of Class 5, Grade Two, said that the journey to look for “Nian” is a special social practice, and also a lively local study. Chongqing rail transit in not only the visiting card of the city, but the proud of citizens. Looking for Nian excites these children.
