CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Recent sources said that during the Spring Festival, the Garden Expo Management Office would launch a series of Chinese New Year carnival activities. 8 theme activities and 10 ethnic feasts would be simultaneously displayed in 7 days, presenting the citizens a Spring Festival feast with traditional Chinese culture.

In these celebrations, the Management Office apply multielement folk culture to dress up the festival and launch a New Year Ethnic Culture Festival and other nine folk activities. The organizers invite ethnic minority performance teams from Dong, Manchu and Tibetan ethnic groups to celebrate the festival with activities such as bamboo dance, presenting hada, Dong tea songs, and reed-pipe solo. From the first day to the sixth in the first lunar month, two Golden Age opening ceremonies will be held every day in the main square. It is said that the ceremony is an original show which takes the Management Office five months to create it.

From the Chinese New Year’s Eve to the 6th in the first lunar year, visitors can also enjoy the tradition of the Spring Festival in the Art Square of Garden Expo Park. The Management Office elaborately plan activities including writing Spring Festival couplets, touching Fu character, rolling hoop, kicking shuttlecock, carrying wedding sedan chair and offering birthday felicitations to evoke visitor’s childhood memories. Professional dragon dancing and lion dancing teams will perform in fixed place or join the mass celebrations, lifting a wonderful Drgons and Lions Celebrating the New Year drama in in the main square and east gate Square (two on the first day and one from the second to the sixth).

During the Spring Festival, thousands of pots of flowers are decorated on the first floor of the main exhibition hall and Zhongshan Park for New Year Spring Festival Flower Show. Five hundred pots of them are peony shipped from Shandong Province, which symbolizes auspiciousness and wealth. Visitor can enjoy this beautiful flower show during the Festival. Along the lake, thousands of winter sweet, red plums, and camellia have quietly bloomed, and the refreshing aroma suffuses all round. At the main entrance and the east gate of the park, a large-scale lantern group with the theme of the Year of the Pig is also built.
