CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Visitors may enjoy the "barrier-free scenery line" of the Yangtze River Cableway soon. The 360° VR real-time immersive experience project of Yangtze River Cableway, co-worked by Chongqing Mobile, Chongqing Passenger Cableway and Huawei, will have trial operation this year. By then, through 5G + VR live broadcasting, tourists can see the scene that they’re passing through the river by cable car and enjoy the beautiful scenery around the Yangtze River and the Jialing River via VR glass.

Yangtze River Cableway, as the only cross-river cableway retained to this day in Chongqing, has been running for 30 years and is known as the "First Air Corridor over the Yangtze River" and "Air Bus in Mountain City". More and more visitors have come here to experience this cableway in recent years. By doing that, they can own a happy memory in their own journey. However, for the related technical requirements in safe operation, tourists often have to queue for a long time before taking it.

To improve the tourists' experience, the 360° VR real-time immersive experience project of Yangtze River Cableway has been created by Chongqing Mobile, Chongqing Passenger Cableway and Huawei together based on the current 5G test network.

Pursuant to the relevant person in charge of Chongqing Mobile, the project is to make the "barrier-free scenery line" of the Yangtze River Cableway relying on the 360° VR live broadcasting service of 5G network. Through the 5G base stations around the Yangtze River Cableway, the 360-degree panoramic video captured by the camera on the cable car is uploaded to the VR server by utilizing the 5G features of low delay and wide bandwidth, so that tourists can fully enjoy the real-time video of the cable car crossing the river and the "panorama" of the beautiful scenery on both sides of two rivers with VR glasses.
