CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Dragon dance for the Lantern Festival is one of Chinese traditional customs. During this Lantern Festival, Chongqing Tongliang Fire Dragon, known as “the first dragon of China”, will perform in Taiwan for the third time to add happy festival atmosphere at the invitation of Nantou and Zhanghua of Taiwan.

Tongliang Fire Dragon was listed among the First Batch of the Nation-Rated Intangible Cultural Heritage by the State Council, which is one of Chongqing’s 10 cultural symbol, as well as “the first dragon of China”. It creates a three-dimensional fire formation during the process by hitting molten iron, accompanied with other fire, which is special and magnificent.

Since 2017, it has been performed in Taiwan for 2 consecutive Lantern Festivals and favored by people there very much. Especially last Lantern Festival, six performances in Taiwan attracted over 1,500,000 visits, which was highly praised by the society.

It’s said that 7 shows will be performed in Nantou and Zhanghua from February 16 to February 22, 2019. Different from previous years, this performance will be upgraded; that is, the duration of the performance will be extended from 9 minutes last year to 15 minutes.
