Which are inbound visitors’ favorite cities of China during the Spring Festival?

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Skyscanner has released the 2019 Big Data Report on Spring Festival Inbound & Outbound Independent Travel (hereinafter referred to as the Report), partnering with Ctrip recently, to interpreting the travel trends during the 2019 Spring Festival from the inbound and outbound visitors, behavioral analysis of Spring Festival tourists based on the Spring Festival travel data of Skyscanner and Ctrip. The Report showed that Chongqing ranked 6th among the favorite cities to visit in China for inbound visitors.

Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen are still the hottest destinations. Some special-interest destinations become dark horses.

On the whole, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen are still the hottest destinations during the Spring Festival. Bangkok, Tokyo, Singapore and Bali become popular destinations for outbound visitors.

It is worth noting that there are many special-interest destinations become dark horses in outbound independent travel. Cebu and Chiang Rai had a growth rate of over 100%, respectively.

Inbound visitors are partial to city tour and prefer Chongqing

During the Spring Festival, many inbound visitors came to China to spend the Chinese New Year. “Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou” are their first choices, followed by Chengdu, Xiamen, Chongqing, Wuhan, Fuzhou, Changsha and Kunming.

According to Skyscanner and Ctrip, visitors to Chongqing are mainly from Hong Kong, the US, Thailand, Germany, the UK, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia and Russia in order.

“Reverse Spring Festival travel rush” becomes a new trend. Chongqing is a popular city of departure

Data showed that the Spring Festival travel rush began from February 1 to 4 and the number of passengers hit its peak on February 3; and the number of returning passengers peaked on February 9 and February 10.

Trend of “Reverse Spring Festival travel rush” significantly increased. Five popular destinations are Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hangzhou; and five popular cities of departure are Chengdu, Chongqing, Harbin, Xi’an and Changchun.
