CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- Cherry blossoms in Chongqing are blooming after the Spring Festival holiday. Many people must be surprised that how could the cherry blossoms bloom so early this year because they didn’t enjoy them in Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications by the end of last March. 

Actually, there are two kinds of cherry blossoms: early cherry and late cherry. In Chongqing, early cherry blossoms usually bloom in mid-to-late February, while late cherry blossoms bloom in late march or even later. Huangjueping Campus of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute at Jiulongpo District is one of the earliest places in Chongqing where cherry blossoms first bloom, which you can visit freely.

When the season of enjoying flower comes, many scenic areas in Chongqing are crowded with tourists. Huangjueping just said goodbye to winter bleakness, so it is still peaceful and quiet without many pedestrians. The early cherry blossoms bloom like pink clouds there. It gains the name of “cherry blossom rain” for petals wither fast.

It’s worth mentioning that cherry blossoms in Huangjueping is early ones, with short flowering phase, so you should enjoy it as soon as possible.

Surrounding artistic shops

Huangjueping is surrounded by many artistic shops. Jiaotong Teahouse, known as the best preserved old teahouse in Chongqing, is favored by young artists and film directors.

It is a place to drink tea, while Laochao Bookstore is the place to take a rest. It may be the oldest bookstore in Chongqing, with warm lights and many books, which has a history of 20 years. You may encounter the founder Ms. Xu there. She may play the harmonica for you under harmonious situations. 

Time Regained is a coffee shop popular on the Internet, with a big ficus virens covers the whole yard. A bar counter is made of old timbers, and branches out of the room form windows. You can sit under the tree and look at the river to relax yourself.

Delicacies

Your stomach shall be satisfied when you go for a spring outing. There are many delicacies in Huangjueping, especially at the backstreet. Tank Houmen Shaokao (Barbecue at back gate of Tank Loft), Youju Luwei (post office braised food) and Qiwei Griddle are well-known restaurants. Hu’s Pig-knuckle Soup is quite tasty. Soft pig-knuckle is delicious with dipping sauce. Tikan Tofu Pudding, serving for decades, is a typical store opened by roadsides with cheap but delicious food. It mainly sells tofu pudding and steamed dishes. The sauce is spicy but smells tasty.

Cherry blossoms are in full bloom now. A beautiful painting is formed by cherry blossoms and artistic things in Huangjueping. So let’s go out to enjoy the nature since early spring arrives and cherry blossoms bloom.
