Best Animation Short Film Award gained by director born in Chongqing

CHONGQING (CQNEWS) -- The 91st Academy Awards Ceremony ended in Los Angeles, USA, on the morning of February 25 (Beijing time). The Green Book, co-produced by Alibaba Pictures in China, has won three awards: Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor and Best Original Screenplay. In addition, Domee Shi, a Chinese female director born in Chongqing, has gained the Oscar for Best Animation Short Film by means of Bao.

Chinese elements showed to the world

The Academy Award for "Best Picture" is the most competitive award every year. There are eight films selected for the reward in the 91st Oscar this year. It was finally obtained by the film Green Book co-produced by Alibaba Pictures, a Chinese film and television company, and it also the first film and television Internet company winning the Academy Award. Then, the Green Book will be released for Chinese audiences on March 1.

What’s more, the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature was taken by the Free Solo, a documentary film directed by Chinese mountaineering master and photographer Jimmy Chin and his wife Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi.

The "Little Golden Man" gained by a female director born in Chongqing

Domee Shi, a female director born in Chongqing, has gained the Oscar for Best Animation Short Film by means of Bao at this Oscar ceremony. She was born in Chongqing but grew up in Toronto. In the former interview on which influences of her parents on her growth, she talked that "As an immigrant child from China, you may always be urged to work harder by your parents, and you really do it to live up to their parents' efforts and expectations."
